the bigger story imho is that the republicans have with this deal ceded the possiblity to use the budget reconcilation process for the next fiscal year. therefore, they have given up the option of pushing some bill through the senate with just 51 votes this fall.

in other words: they have already given up on the idea of passing any meaningful partisan legislation before the midterms.

Turns out back in 2013, Keith Ellison went to a dinner with Louis Farrakhan and Iranian President Rouhani
Anyone familiar with ellison should know he's been dogged by his relationship with farrakhan and writings defending him under the name 'keith e hakim', but has always brushed it off as something he grew out of after law school, denied knowing he was antisemitic, etc etc. Even just a year ago in 2016 when he was angling for the head of the DNC, causing Dershowitz to shrivel up, he was still fighting the farrakhan links. Now it turns out he was still meeting with Farrakhan as a congressman in 2013 and 2015 at a minimum.

It was technically secret, nobody knew about it, but some public islamic website posted an article detailing ellison and farrakhan being present back in 2013 and nobody noticed it until the WSJ pointed it out yesterday
