Going freelancing through russian back channels with known ties to the kremlin and hiding it from your senate colleagues for 7 months, while simultaneously denouncing someone meeting with a russian lawyer with "suspected ties" to the kremlin?
No its not equivalent, but its pretty close, and its hypocritical with the wide net he cast in saying nobody should be meeting with foreign adversaries in secret.

It's really not close. Warner was trying to get to Steele because he's relevant to the IC investigation... Don Jr wanted to talk to a suspected agent of a foreign adversary to get dirt on his dad's political opponent. Pretty big difference. As far as the wide net he cast... I don't see that. The discussion was in the context of a political campaign. Also this Waldman guy is an American citizen who owns a consulting firm, a bit different than a Russian lawyer.

Rubio said Warner disclosed it to the committee 4 months ago.

But the texts go back 11 months, meaning he spent 7 months keeping his russian back channel secret from the senate IC investigation, and he explicitly did not want to leave a paper trail.

Maybe he wanted to avoid the right-wing nothingburger machine... you guys will latch onto anything. Probably safe to assume that the members of the senate intelligence committee don't tell their colleagues about every feeler they send out. Calling Waldman a "Russian back channel" is weirdly presumptuous... apparently Steele reached out to him.

Just for fun, what's the conspiracy theory here? I'm not even sure why this is a story.

Natalia whatever-her-name-is and Adam Waldman are both known lobbyists for russia, what they do is more important than their nationality, and its fair to call a guy on Oleg Deripaska's payroll a russian channel
Why's there got to be a conspiracy though? Isn't it enough for him to just be hypocritically engaging in the same kind of back room contacts with russia linked figures that he's denouncing publicly?

i just wonder how many morons thought "cutting deals" and "infrastructure overhaul" meant "fiscally responsible government". My guess is most voters never saw this coming, but still want the spending package.

I think their nationality is somewhat important. I don't think it makes sense that Waldman had to reach out to his Russian contacts to get Steele to contact him.

I don't see the hypocrisy, cause it's not there.

Well, at least Trump was honest on the campaign trail about it. He talked about more military spending, infrastructure spending, tax cuts, and not touching SS/medicare. Now here we are.

100% honest about his plan for sure. bit of snake oil with his spokesmen running on every news network saying he'd run the govt like a business and be far more fiscally responsible. but thats semantics and HRC's people went on tv and lied about HRC intimidating Bill's Harem in the 90s and washed away her stances from 1995 and back.

only a goof wouldn't have seen the spending increase, im just curious how we'll not go bankrupt as ESky said. good for business, going to blow out the economy, but the deficit is going to get really wierd. we're fine as long as we can pay down the interest while the economy grows, but if we cant the Bank of Bravoss is going to hire a faceless man to give Trump the Balon Greyjoy treatment...

I'm seriously so sick of hearing about Trump already; he's a fringe candidate who stands no chance at getting the nomination. He's this year's Ron Paul (gets tons of attention on the internet but loses by a landslide).
