oh i'm by no means suggesting america was innocent in that regard, i'm merely pointing out that it's a ridiculously pathetic "excuse" to make that point in order to rationalise russia's conduct - ESPECIALLY coming from an american. that's pure cuckery and i think it's hilarious...
Why? Its the reason it occurred. Cause and effect.
The world is driven by more or less rational actors with their own self interests, and its not really that hard to parse together what is going on and why, but there's plenty of propaganda to cloud that message for nutters to seize upon and pretend otherwise.
Someone pointing out the causality and moral ambiguity isn't the same as condoning it. Putin had his reasons, they're explicable, and the question of morality really isn't an important one in the long run, understanding the dynamics is what matters.
Like if America was serious about wanting to avoid spooky russian hackers from influencing its elections, then the answer isnt to increase hostilities, sanctions and aggression against Russia, its to not hit them so they don't hit us back. The principle of MAD, except we hit first, and are trying to justify hitting third.
