I cannot believe he's testifying. His case is so solid at this point, they've affirmatively proven self defense. There's no need for this.

If he folds under cross, he could prejudice the jury against him. Yet there's nothing whatsoever of benefit he can add to the testimony and video evidence already seen.

I'm sorry, I don't claim to be smarter than the defense team, but allowing him to testify seems like the stupidest thing they could ever do.

I also don't think he should have taken the stand. Each day I have tuned in the defence has had little go their way. Seems like an unnecessary risk.

he is the only person available to provide testimony on 2 counts:

1. how close was Rosenbaum when he was initially shot, and how that engagement started
2. whether he say Grossshitz gun before he pulled the trigger, and whether he was struck solidly with the skateboard

do i think that is necessary? no. does the defense? apparently?

Didnt Grossshitz straight say he had his gun out before Kyle opened fire?

yes.

per what i just heard Kyle was issued the bulletproof vest by police as a part of his internship, demolishing the "he had a vest because he's a militia guy paramilitary type". so solid play by defense.

edit: kyle also can testify as to why he left the group and headed towards the destination Rosenbaum intercepted him at. so far we've only had speculation on that front.

I noticed that as well. Still, I think the initial testimony is mostly meaningless. Kyle's answers on Cross are what is going to sway the jury either for or against him.

SORRY IM GONNA LIVE TWEET FOR A BIT

Kyle further testifies that the group there was not pre-organized. perhaps giving credence to the defense's objections to any use of the term militia.

For anyone who wants to watch the trial but doesn't know where, here's livestream coverage of it, that includes a panel of lawyers who provide some commentary, especially during breaks and down time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dH7Sch5mXfw
