A Catholic priest has banned Democratic vice presidential bet Tim Kaine from showing up at his church and taking the Holy Communion.

In a post on Twitter, Father Thomas Petri, vice president and academic dean of the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington D.C., told Kaine, "Do us both a favor. Don't show up in my communion line. I take Canon 915 seriously. It'd be embarrassing for you & for me."

Canon 915 of the Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church states that "those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion."

Petri also tweeted that Kaine "is identified as Catholic. But he thinks abortion is fine & women should be priests. He's either poorly catechized or a dissenter."

"Self-identified Catholics are not a 'thing' in Catholicism. If you don't believe our central tenets, you're not Catholic," he told him.

According to the Canon Law, "Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person — among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life."

Kaine, a U.S. senator from Virginia, is a supporter of abortion yet claims to be pro-life and a faithful Catholic, according to Life Site News.

Clinton's lead nationally is down from 7.1 points two weeks ago to 2.2 points today. Trump is up 2.5 points in Ohio and 1.0 points in Florida. Unfortunately for Trump, winning both of those swing states doesn't even secure the election for him because he so far behind in many other key swing states. (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/)

Why isn't the most qualified presidential candidate in US history dominating arguably the worst major party nominee ever? Did the DNC underestimate Clinton's negatives or are Americans really that foolish to think Trump is the better option? Both?

I'm just confused why the most qualified candidate ever isn't throwing down a about a 7 point lead or more against such a disastrous candidate. Anything less than 7 or 8 points on election day will be a disappointment - Obama beat McCain by 7.2 points in 2008, and Clinton should beat a candidate as bad Trump by more than that or at least that margin.

ABC/WaPo put Trump up 46/45 this morning. Was a real shocker, imho.

/e You should ask Michael Moore why Trump is doing this well.

Damn.

My point is, maybe Clinton just isn't that great. Or maybe Americans are complete fools. Or both.

Let's be honest - Trump is a complete disaster. He is a demagogue with authoritarian undertones, likely has ties to a major foreign adversary, and is nearly completely bankrupt of any substantive ideas and policies.

Electing Donald Trump would be the biggest failure of American democracy in history - both on the DNC's behalf of insisting on nominating a candidate riddled with so many scandals and problems and rigging a primary to do so, and on Republican voters/GOP's behalf on nominating such a terrible and awful candidate and cultivating a political enviornment in which he could thrive.

It would take the ultimate combination of democratic and oligarchic failures to have Trump as president, and our country is dangerously on the verge of it.

Fortunately, I think we might dodge the bullet. But we seriously have to examine how our democracy functions after this election. We are playing with fire.
