"they" didnt take anything in most cases, such lands were offered to settlers/farmers by their respective countries that had colonies in africa
so if you want to blame someone, blame european countries for colonisation
and its not like africans did anything productive with that land before the europeans came and they didnt when they were expelled

you could give these people any kind of machine and everything that is needed and they still fail miserably
a harvester would land on the scrap market within a week....
