John Kerry had higher favorability ratings than Hillary Clinton. The only major party candidate with worse favorability ratings in recorded history is Donald Trump.

This is Harry Enten trying to spin her historically awful favorability ratings into something less negative. She's lucky to be running against such a disastrous candidate.

Yeah, spinning that hard data that says people are voting for her and not against Trump, what a jerk.

According to the link Dusty just posted, more people are voting FOR Hillary than AGAINST Trump than were voting FOR Kerry rather than AGAINST Bush.

That's how voters of a particular party feel about their own candidate in an increasingly polarized political climate, sure. And it's based off of a single data point (ABC News Survey).

I put much more stock into something like favorability, which has hundreds of data points and has been better studied. Besides, Kerry was also a lousy candidate who lost to one of the worst presidents ever (though, the incumbent does have the advantage).
