Human life happens at conception and eventually decays from the material world at the time of death. The soul exists before and after those events.

Let's take things literal when it's convenient, and not when it isn't.
take thing literal when its literal........

A yes everything that has been disproven is now considered a figure of speech well how convinient indeed.
Funny how to Christians pre irrefutable proof came along, zealously believed the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around the earth? So much so that they would imprison and even put you to death if you disagreed with them.
It's hilarious that most people today consider the bible an allegorical morality tale rather than literal facts. If it's a figure of speech then it's not facts or truth by definition it's a rhetorical language devised to persuade with emotion and superstition rather than facts and data. Using amorphous language like the bible you can make it mean anything and everything you want it to be. You can't prove it or disprove it it's just a word salad of feelings and wild thoughts.
Did Jesus walk on water or was it a figure of speech? Did actual demons exist or was it a figure of speech for people acting possessed? Did God really send down 2 bears to maul 42 children or was it a moral story on respecting your elders? Did jonah really survive inside of a fish for 3 days? Or was it a typical bed time story on how you cannot outrun a God?
it would be reasonable to accept explanations as "figures of speech" are commonly understood. except it seems the ear wiggling clown in this thread.
now i know certain people in this thread haters of truth will disdain the following. but they will be exposed anyway
