Hello. I believe that the union between two people of the same sex cannot be called a true marriage, because marriage is commonly understood to mean the union between a man and a woman. So, we should use the term "civil union" to describe same sex unions.
Gays trying hard to force people to acknowledge same-sex "marriage" is simply an attempt to re-define the word marriage in the English language. They try to dictate to the rest of society what a word should mean and how to use it, just so that they can feel better about themselves. What's wrong with accepting the term civil union? As long as it carries the same legal and other benefits as marriage, there is no need to reject this term. But gays are simply not satisfied.
Do you agree with me that the union between two people of the same sex is not marriage?
Ok. So after reading 17 pages of this crap, it's obvious that you're trolling.
Does anyone care to have a serious discussion on this issue?
I'll just state my position and see if anyone cares to chime in:
Ideally the government should not be involved in marriage at all. It should be between the couple, their God and their Church.
But Government IS involved in marriage, because of tax benefits, assumed powers of attourney, spousal privilege and probably in other ways I can't think of right now.
So, that being the case, at least in the USA, the equal protection clause means that Gay marriage must be recognized, even if Obergfell V Hodges is revisited per Justice Thomas' notes in the Dobbs decision.
