I use data from fbi.gov regarding murder rates, per capita. 13% commit 50% of murders in the USA. It’s mostly black on black but that doesn’t sell news and views. Pitting losers against winners and blaming winners for losers losing does.

Yes. Cops don’t do anything to help people. They exist to protect the private property of the rich, and to shake citizens down for money. Good riddance.

Maybe people shouldn’t be murdered by police over low level crime and traffic violations? There are courts to determine guilt and penalties.

Now look into the history of their treatment in society, look at how those rates similarly rise with drug use, drug dealing, lower education, and lower economic opportunity, and then look at all the active discrimination that was supposed to stop in the 60's but keeps going and ask yourself if the two are related.

The 13/50 talking point doesn't sell because everybody knows the history and the context. It's not some conspiracy. Most people aren't stupid enough to buy into obvious racial propaganda.

The prosecution rested its case on the insane theory that Kim Potter's mistake counted as first degree manslaughter because the act of trying to use a taser- not a gun- constituted a violent criminal assault, and thus Daunte Wright was killed in the commission of a crime. That a police officer trying to use a taser on a fleeing violent felon with serious warrants, who is trying to drive away in several thousand pounds of metal with police officers wedged halfway in the door, was not justified, and was assault. The credible use of force experts and police trainers testified at trial that not only did it unambiguously justify use of a taser under department policy, but could have arguably justified lethal force.

The jury was made up of people from Minneapolis, so they convicted her because she's a cop. They would have convicted her of coin debasing, regicide and defaming the prophet if the prosecutors had added those charges to the docket. Nevermind that the charges against Kim Potter didn't even make sense under any rational interpretation of the events, they convicted her of everything. Nevermind that she had decades of flawless record with no complaints, practically a saint, and obviously made a mistake without any intent.

Judge Chu should have thrown out the upper charges entirely, but instead fell back on these half measures that still won't satiate the bloodlust of the mob and still make a mockery of justice. Her ruling had all the wisdom and compromise shown by Justice Taney in his crowning achievement. When you know the system is flawed, when you know justice is being perverted, when you know the rancor of political vitriol is at your doorstep (rather literally, for Judge Chu), you're given the option of taking a principled stand for what's right, or appeasing the calls for Barabbas.
