You did not suggest for Biden to tell Manchin that the DoJ will carry out an open-ended investigation into his daughter, respecting due process and the principle of innocent until proven guilty - no, you suggested for him to forestall the investigation, undermine the separation of powers like a banana republic dictator and threaten Manchin: "your daughter is going to jail if you don't do as I want".

Not that hard to see the huuuuge difference. In particular since you know full well that a rich, powerful person like Manchin and his family could afford top lawyers and there's only a miniscule chance of his daughter going to jail even if she really is guilty.


If your main concern was rooting out 'legal corruption' in politics, you would call for corresponding legislation or for the DoJ to target all corrupt politicians, Republicans, corporate Democrats and progressives alike. Instead, you want to specifically target the two senators who happen to stand in the way of the lefty agenda. It's really not hard to see that your true motivation is coercion and the corruption bit is just a rationalization.

I'd absolutely support corresponding legislation for the DoJ to target all corrupt politicians. That sounds like a great idea IMO. I did just say "If our current halls are full of corrupt assholes then good, clear them out".

Y'all can call that corruption and that's fine. In an ideal world they'd both have been in jail for a long time by now. But unfortunately we live in the real world where dirty deals get done.

I'd rather dirty deals get done for the common good than for personal gain.

There's a massive difference between "Hey, we're gonna rake you over the coals if you don't vote for meaningful infrastructure spending" and "Hey, I'm gonna vote to kill environmental regulations so line my own pocket".
