Also another detail, apparently the DA's press conference today said that Brooks presented no more threat because the 3-shot taser had already been fired twice, and when Brooks shot it at the officers a half second before they returned fire, that ran it out of ammo and it would need to be reloaded to fire again (it could still be used as a melee stun gun, something the DA conspicuously left out). So apparently "he ran out of ammo half a second before we returned fire" is a reason to prosecute.
that entire shitshow of a press conference was just one quotable sound byte after another
"he was never informed he was under arrest" as he's on video interrupting the officer informing him he's under arrest by assaulting him
"he never displayed any aggressive behavior" and "never presented himself as a threat" as he physically attacked officers unprovoked and shot a weapon at them
"there was no {timely} medical attention applied to Mr. Brooks" because it took 132 whole seconds

Yes. I don't know what fantasy land you live in where Americans will over-zealously convict a cop but it's not happening. Until it actually HAPPENS, why would I worry?

It's really telling that you're worried about fair trials for alt-right people when people haven't gotten fair trials for CENTURIES. If you're poor, you're not getting a fair trial. You're going to get a shitty public defender and most likely plea out and serve time. You claim to be this guy who deeply cares about civil liberties but your post history appears to focus on an incredibly narrow subset of the population. Look, everyone deserves justice and a fair trial (including the alt-right, Nazis, etc.) but I'm not going to worry about six sigma events when there are other problems that are 2 inches from our face.

One look around the country and I'd say we're easily at that point and well beyond. The courts move slower than popular attitudes. If you don't think its possible, I'd say just sit back and watch

I wouldn't be surprised if some of these PD's start to pull a Blue Flu.

Would be so devastating. Would worry about the citizens though.
Crime would be overwhelming.

If ATL PD doesn’t walk out or quit in mass then there is no turning back from this farce and future farces.

George Floyd was murdered
Brooks shooting was justified 100000%

Montreal the police did this in the past by going on strike for like, 16 hours, the effects were devastating.

As a young teenager in proudly peaceable Canada during the romantic 1960s, I was a true believer in Bakunin's anarchism. I laughed off my parents' argument that if the government ever laid down its arms all hell would break loose. Our competing predictions were put to the test at 8:00 a.m. on October 7, 1969, when the Montreal police went on strike. By 11:20 am, the first bank was robbed. By noon, most of the downtown stores were closed because of looting. Within a few more hours, taxi drivers burned down the garage of a limousine service that competed with them for airport customers, a rooftop sniper killed a provincial police officer, rioters broke into several hotels and restaurants, and a doctor slew a burglar in his suburban home. By the end of the day, six banks had been robbed, a hundred shops had been looted, twelve fires had been set, forty carloads of storefront glass had been broken, and three million dollars in property damage had been inflicted, before city authorities had to call in the army and, of course, the Mounties to restore order. This decisive empirical test left my politics in tatters (and offered a foretaste of life as a scientist)." [16]

Think of the effects of this in a modern major US city..

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Atlanta Police Department on Friday night, June 12th, to investigate an officer involved shooting at the Wendy’s Restaurant on University Avenue. We are in the process of conducting this investigation. Although we have made significant progress in the case, we have not completed our work. Our goal in every officer involved shooting case we are requested to review, is to complete a thorough, impartial investigation before we submit the file to the respective District Attorney’s Office.
The GBI was not aware of today’s press conference before it was conducted. We were not consulted on the charges filed by the District Attorney. Despite today’s occurrence, the GBI will complete its mission of completing an impartial and thorough investigation of this incident and we will submit the file, once completed, to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Not only did the DA charge the cop despite it obviously being justified, not only did his press conference directly lie about the incident and make the rather mind boggling assertion that a suspect immediately becomes a non-threat and cannot be shot in self defense the millisecond his weapon runs out of ammo while he's shooting at police, but the DA pressed the charges with no investigation and no grand jury. The GBI wasn't involved at all, they were completely blindsided. The DA did this entirely on his own. He had no more investigation than we've done in this thread. The Georgia DA doesn't have an investigative branch, its up to the GBI.

Now if I thought it was bad Chauvin was charged before the ME report was in and cause of death established, this one is truly ridiculous because the DA didn't even talk to investigators at all.

/e also the GBI is the same agency that is currently investigating this DA for the fraud & sexual assault allegations. So, lol
