These proceedings are functionally identical to that of a grand jury. Witnesses give depositions, and the grand jury determines if there is sufficient evidence to recommend or issue an indictment (in this case, impeachment, rather than indictment).

You know what else is closed to the public? Grand jury hearings.

Except in this case the grand jury are just a bunch of hyper partisans that will hardly be objective.

Ever seen a grand jury play out? Lol. They use a low burden of proof. As they should. It's a discovery to see if a trial is needed. Not a trial

True, but Void is right about this. That secret inquiry is about as partisan as you can get.

U mean the secret inquiry the GOP's members on relevant committees could be in?

So like a team huddle the other team can be in....

Everyone knows there's quite a few House Republicans that aren't... right leaning even in the loosest sense.

So which that could go aren't right wingers. If its not all who cares? Some who stormed the hearing could have attended. So they'll storm it but aren't really right wingers? Cool tinfoil goalpost shift...

Burden of proof is irrelevant. All of the Republicans will say nay and the Democrats will say yay. So where's the discovery?

Anything that comes up to a vote in the House in those committees is gonna be so LEFT field, that it wouldn't even qualify as a foul ball.

The discovery of evidence is interviewing the witnesses.

In reality the dems know they'll call for impeachment in any case. Something similar to grand jurors.

The dems are doing due diligence (overdoing imo) and the gop wants a vote asap

Anything concerning impeachment of the President should be before the entire Congress... IMO.
