the entire farm issue highlights tribalism. HRC basically calls coal miners collateral damage to her EPA standards, people rally around a group that's like 50k people to call out her callous behavior. Trump then calls farmers collateral damage to his policies and it's not a problem, people are willing to pump up subsidies, take tariff price hikes on the chin, and risk job loss in the farm sector. It's more about the source than anything, far more people are affected by farm job loss than coal mining job loss. and in both sectors increases in demand don't equate to jobs at a 1:1 ratio due to automated work processes. same as the effort to bring iron working jobs back has just resulted in larger production runs in existing plants rather than new plants or reopened plants.

Biden already has built in support in important areas if he just promised to undo a lot of what trump has done on this topic it would be a tough fight for trump

Trump wasnt honest going into the trade wars. Everything is always the biggest and the best. This leaves a lot of room for disappointment when the consequences happen immediately to many people that support him. Harris and Warren and Sanders making the appeal, eh but Biden can get some of them.

Problem is that Biden is gassing out from the primary season at his age I dunno what will be left when the wolves get done if he is even the nominee

Good part of all this is, that NOW China is ready to barter...they have to. So any "suffering" should be almost done with.

Maybe they can hop on a jet with North Korean leaders who are also clearly ready to do the USA's bidding...

China says wants 'calm' resolution to U.S. trade war

BEIJING (Reuters) - China is willing to resolve its trade dispute with the United States through “calm” negotiations and resolutely opposes the escalation of the conflict, Vice Premier Liu He, who has been leading the talks with Washington, said on Monday.

All in all it sounds as if China is more ready than the US to end the trade war.

"they're ready to resolve this" Ghot

"we can't trust them" Ghot, on literally any other chinese statement

just like you said NK was finally ready to make concessions.

so we think that the Chinese are ready to fundamentally change how their govt-producer relationship works and they'll start enforcing US patent laws because we gave them a few papercuts?

this newest round of trade talks with result in one of 3* things:

1. bullshit trade agreements for high demand asian goods such as soy
2. a bold faced lie that the Chinese govt will try to curb copyright infringement and patent infringement
3. trade talks fall apart

you. can't. trust. the. chinese. period.

Two big differences:

1.: Hillary treated coal miners with disdain and condescencion while Trump has a positive attitude towards farmers. Irrespective from environmental regulation, there had already been a cultural alienation going on for quite some time between the Democratic party and the white working class.
2.: The greater goals for which Trump and Hillary, respectively, were demanding personal sacrifice from the farmers/coal miners had different urgency. Trump's trade wars are aimed at China's predatory trade practices, which have already caused tangible devastation all across the midwest. Pretty much everyone in the midwest knows a family member or friend who lost his job to outsourcing between the early 90s and now. On the other hand, climate change, the issue at which Hillary's EPA regulations and the "war on coal" were aimed, is much less tangible. The vast majority of the devastations associated with climate change still lie in the future.

So yes, Trump has to be careful to not overdo it with his trade wars, but I dont think that farmers will turn as hard on the GOP as factory workers in the rustbelt turned on the Dems.

First off... I never said NK was ready to make concessions. I might have said... it sounds like... or it could happen.

As for China...THEIR financial guy is the one making the initial statements. Their market is hurting worse than ours, They blinked first.

But you can interpret it differently. That's your right.

no that's fake news created by an editted out of context quote:

Fox News quote:

"we're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business."

full quote:

"we're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business. We're going to make it clear that we don't want to forget those people," Clinton said. "Those people labored in those mines for generations, losing their health, often losing their lives to turn on our lights and power our factories. Now we've got to move away from coal and all the other fossil fuels, but I don't want to move away from the people who did the best they could to produce the energy that we relied on."

you like many got sold on fake news. i fucking hate HRC but you're just running with bs, sorry.

He said... (his name is He), that they were including intellectual property. And again... I'm just posting the story. I have nowhere stated that He could or could not be trusted. It's an unknowable statistic.
