Fast food places ofc, don't have strawberries in their strawberry milkshakes. But back in the day, before fast food places... fruit flavored milkshakes DID have fruit in them.
/e Even today, in non-chain food places, you can still get milkshakes with real fruit in them.
/ee There was a place in Cali, called El Patio (mexican name) run by a Chinese family, that served American food... like a family burger joint. They had real milkshakes. (ice cream, milk and fruit) (80's and 90's)
There was also a small burger chain called Nations Giant Hamburgers, that had awesome burgers and fresh fruit pies, and real milkshakes.
I've run into real milkshakes pretty much all over the US, but like I said, they aren't huge fast food chains. McDonald's strawberry milkshakes are probably made by Dupont.
