Which jobs will we lose, if the US revives the steel industry?

Bankers?
Computer folks?
Teachers?
Doctors?
Farmers?

Don't think so. :/

i said that unskilled and lowskilled labor in adjacent industries will be lost, and together add up to more than we gain in steel jobs.

your response is a bunch of professional level jobs in non-adjacent fields?

do you even read?

We have people w/o jobs in the US. Fact

Which low skill jobs, will we lose if the US revives the steel industry? List a few. Not from some projection article, but from your own head.

any and all production fields that use aluminium or steel.

Conveyor belt machine production seems like a good example.

The steel industry isnt what it used to be:

https://collegegrad.com/industries/steel-manufacturing

"At integrated mills, production begins when material-moving workers use robots and cranes to load iron ore" ^^

I'll wait till you make sense again. Yeah, we will lose jobs in industries that require steel, if the US revives the steel industry. Mmmmk.

i facilitate the purchase of many tons of steel per week at my company. when my prices go up i get less jobs. when we get less jobs we hire less workers.

do you think i get all of my steel domestically?

Projections these days are just politics. Let's see what "actually" happens, shall we.

The American car industry was possible, because of the US Steel industry.

This is a shit response to a real concern. Business analysts at the Federal Reserve are hardly poor sources. Steel jobs in this country are a fraction of the jobs the auto industry provides.

OH, the magical "price of steel will go up" argument.
Big giant ....wroooooong.

Yeah, the price of steel will go up because, it's made locally, it has to be shipped (more shipping jobs) less distance, It has to use local coal, (more coal mining jobs).

Etc. Come back when you have some actual numbers, not guesses and projections from people who are trying to manipulate the govt's decisions. ^^

so let me get this straight. The president is putting a tariff on foreign steel, which is cheaper, to force people to buy more steel from domestic sources, which are more expensive, but the price of steel wont go up?

you want actual numbers, I just bought a truck load of 2" od 11 ga wall tube steel for floor supports from a domestic supplier for the first time in 2 years. before it was all from china. tube supports arent a quality control concern like shafting or pneumatic components. that truck cost me more than a shipment from china.

The president is putting a tariff on foreign steel, mainly China's so they don't own the US in another 20 years.

/e

AND like I said already...it's not JUST about the tariff.

From the article I posted in THIS topic and you either didn't read or chose to ignore cause it was inconvenient for your beliefs...

Describing the dumping of steel and aluminum in the U.S. market as “an assault on our country,” Trump said in a White House announcement that the best outcome would for companies to move their mills and smelters to the United States. He insisted that domestic metals production was vital to national security.

“If you don’t want to pay tax, bring your plant to the USA,” added Trump, flanked by steel and aluminum workers.
