It's said Jesus took original sin from us. I could be wrong though.
most protestant Christians believe that; Jesus died and took on all of our sins, not just "original sin"

don't all babies go to hell because we have original sin

Wait, but then what did Jesus die for? What actual functional difference did his death make?

there is no correct one, in my experience, people use the interpretation best suited to their current argument.
but this is basically what i was getting at
Once again it is common protestant belief that from birth to the time that free will allows one to enteract with God and accept the gift of salvation through his son Jesus Christ. That mankind is protected or "covered by Prevenient grace. So no babies won't go to hell. God threw in a codicil for that.

All throughout mate. The gospel of salvation is that unless you have accepted Jesus as your lord and saviour and through him Yahweh as your one true God you will burn in hellfire. Babies can't make that choice... they haven't the comprehension to do so.
Well now you can be a complete dick, you can sin as much as you want and still go to heaven as long as you have accepted Christ. There is no real moral judgement of your soul... the ONLY punishable sin is atheism... or I suppose believing but rejecting God.
Yes and no scaly you seem to think that Pascal's wager would be a logical wager right? The thing is you can't yell in your last breath " Oh cripes! I almost forgot..I accept Jesus!" That's not quite how it works it's not like a game of kick the can where as long as you beat whoever is it back to the can you're safe. When you reach out to Jesus it must be with conviction and faith, accept means that in your heart you no longer have a doubt that there is one and only one God and his so truly is Jesus. You have to have faith in the resurrection story and not doubt it. You have to have that conviction/ faith otherwise it's just hollow words.
That's why Pascal's wager is a fool's game it doesn't take into consideration, faith.
