So Jay the real question is who will the match up be let's say if killary goes to prison and trump eventually talks to much....who do you see as the possible new front runners and who would be their vp

Interesting hypothetical, well worth thinking it out. I don't know how the first could even happen though; it'd take a revelation and charges that haven't even been discussed yet and that would probably flip BOTH contests on their heads. The Democrats would coalesce around one of the Senators who deferred to Clinton, potentially one of the strong female options like Klobuchar/Gillibrand. Kaine/Warner/McCaskill/Cantwell would be other options and the VP choice would probably come from that group too (as it's expected to do for Clinton). The whole party might even draft Warren.

If Clinton had to drop I guess presumably for the email practices then several Republicans would be done too for the same exact reason. Bush would be DOA (in addition to email practices, the Bush foundation is even messier than CGF). Walker's entire tenure has been consumed by a half-dozen legitimate scandals and if either Clinton/Bush were torpedoed the bullseye on him would grow. Their primary voters might not care though (they don't right now, for one) and the Walker/Rubio ticket that's already pretty likely would probably be just as likely.

Christie, Walker, Kasich, Fiorina, Rubio, Rand, Huck, a lot of these people have a whole lot of ugly things lurking just below the surface. This field comes with a particularly high number of skeletons. Hell Perry is running while under indictment. If a frontrunner had to drop because of "corruption" then most of them would be even more of a non-starter than they already should be and absolute chaos would ensue.

Edit: Forgot Huckabee. Lotttttt of skeletons there.

That's very scary. Should be very entertaining though.

Trump and the crowding of the party are both incredible distractions from their candidates having to answer core issues, furthermore if 50% of each interview is the candidates lazily swatting away Trump quotes the core issues go unanswered even longer. During this entire time Bernie and Hillary are laying the foundation for their platform, openly for all to see. So the republicans can prepare for the debates without even showing their hands, and there is less chance for a candidate to stumble over their own words.

If you don't think this is directly making the non-Trump candidates seem more moderate i dont know what to tell you. It certainly is. Of course that doesnt account for people like Walker claiming that war with Iran on innaguration day is a possibility, or out of context quotes by Bush. But the Trump to candidates relationship IMO surely pushes the candidates to the middle, in everyone's eyes not just reps. How can standing next to someone with that much negative attention not?

less, but not zero, looks like no amount of smoke screen could stop huckabee from sticking his foot in his mouth
you can almost feel the junior staffers scrambling and strategists wringing their hands

Truly the genius in the other camps may be to out trump Trump...now that could make for a very interesting debate.

I mean, this was obvious given the proximity of the debates relative to his announcement. Now, will he make it to the CNN debate? That's to be seen.

The entire apparatus is still trying to sideline him but I think they've ran out of time to do so for the Fox debate. Unless all three of the first-tier campaigns suddenly signed onto the RNC scheme to pass on the first debate I just don't see how the field could get away with him not being there. Terrible news for them, because he'll be the story of the debate by default.
