You're failing quite miserably at #4. Perhaps we can help you achieve this spiritual state of enlightenment. Try having an open mind.

We do not have the same definition of logic then (please explain me how it can possibly be true... which will mean my previous post is wrong.

Notice I said IF Rome is the capitol of Canada......

The statement: "If A, then B" can only be false if A is true and B is false; however A is false (Rome is not the capitol of Canada), therefore the statement must be true. An example:

"If you come to my office tomorrow, then I will give you the job."
The only way that statement can be false is you come to the office and you don't get the job. If you didn't come to the office, and you didn't get the job, you can't say it was false since you didn't meet the criteria.

It disturbs me you are so interested in "the truth" but don't seem to have the basic tools needed to evaluate what is true and what is false in even simple situations.

I think it's time to go back to a plan we had some time ago, and only discuss Fantasy Football in this thread.

Sorry but you do not make any sense hehe your "logic" is very funny.
Berlin will never be the capitol of Florida, and Rome will never be the capitol of Canada... there is nothing to debate about your statement can never be true in this world. You can think it is true, but it doesn't change the only truth: Berlin is capitol of Germany and Rome is capitol of Italy for everyone I know with a rational mind.

See the first quote in my signature.

If you understand the principles of logic, then bananas are shaped like starfish.

That is a logically true statement because the premise (you understanding the principles of logic) is false, therefore the conclusion is irrelevant. The statement as a whole is true.

Of course, if you understand what I said in the second post, then that suddenly makes the first sentence a false statement after all, because "if (true) then (false)" is a false statement.

Attempting to understand philosophy without understanding the above chart is like attempting to understand math without knowing your multiplication table. Sure, it might be possible, but you're pretty likely to make some colossal fuckups here and there. :(

funny story, is I learned all of this the first time in math classes, not philosophy (although I did later learn it in philosophy). On this example (the example with the capitols; in my math class) one of the students kept arguing with the instructor saying that the statement was false (even though the truth table clearly shows it's true). Eventually the instructor took a step back and asked the student "what is your major", and he said "philosophy". She snickered, "figures", and told him to get out of her classroom.
