Read my edit. I answered it already with an analogy that fits your temperature example perfectly. Read post #14.

I wonder how many times I've pointed people to post #14 now, and yet they continually result to red herrings, ad hominem attacks, etc.

Oh well.. Anyway, I hope you guys seriously look at what I'm saying here. I'd love for this aspect of science to be corrected, so that this inherent pre-bias will be resolved, and we can move forwards towards getting more accurate dates on things, to either back up the current estimates, or refute them. (I doubt that these posts will make any difference, but hopefully it has illuminated a glaring issue with this specific issue.)

I'm off the PaRD for now, thanks guys, was a fun as always. :)

Cya Paul. I'm off as well. I've been reading through this and, well, it's the same as always. Same people saying the same things with the same lack of evidence but total belief that they can't be wrong.
inb4someonesays that's Paul and I

Anyhow, a lot of you should look up Kent Hovind's website.

I come up with TONS of evidence you can find in your backyard, smell, touch, read about etc..

You come up with NO PROOF AT ALL

Yet my theory is lacking evidence? You don't even HAVE evidence..

Okay I'm going to stop this. I'm just repeating myself. I always thought using common sense was the right way to think about stuff, but I might have been wrong.

Fun discussion anyways. :)

Did you see the word strictly in my sentence? I didn't say that The Bible should be read entirely from a figurative view. I said:

You have to know what parts are figurative and what parts are literal. This takes a bit of intelligence so I can see why it would be difficult for some of you.

I understand it perfectly. Anything involving numbers are figurative such as 7 days, 40 days and being 900 years old.. The 3 days and then resurrection is literal though.. The size of Noah's Ark is also literal. It all makes sense. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence should know this.

You know, it's funny, because I was going to say the same thing about Njag. Except that it's you playing Njags part, and he's the smart one ;) Funny how that works right?

/e

Also, to go to the original topic... The bible talks about dinosaurs. Behemoth, Leviathan...etc etc. The term dinosaur wasn't even coined until 1800's. I believe in a young earth. Around 10000 years old. Plain and simple, people say "Oh, it's not possible for Dinosaurs to have lived with man" but I like to differ. Why isn't it possible? Because you assume dinosaurs would have destroyed man? Man, who has managed to kill every creature it's ever found and make it into something tasty and edible?

someone get this kid a TT, pronto!

You just completely restated what he did, but insulted him about it.

Really? Then why ask a question like this:

Not sure if this is sarcasm or serious. Was the virgin birth literal?

The guessing game, obviously. Isn't that how you guys determine what's literal and not in the bible? I flipped a coin... or are all the numbers in the bible figurative? Enlighten me.

No, really its the things proven to not be able to happen, or clearly out of nowhere they say are not literal... the things they can say "you never know" are the ones they claim to be literal.

If you think Biblical interpretation is a guessing game you are a fool . Teachings are backed up by the preponderance of concordant Scriptures and to think that the exact measurements of the Ark can not be allegorical denotes a rather dull mind .

No offense !
