While a Major supporter of further research of the HH it cannot be considered fact.

Direct exhaust fumes from a car can trigger an Asthma attack but not from in the street and short of walking directly behind a car that does not meet modern laws concerning car emissions the chance of it triggering as asthmatic attack is extremely rare. You cannot say the same about cigarette smoke which is very common in triggering asthma attacks. The "being your inhaler" attitude is moot as well considering how if I had to use my inhaler every time I go to the store, park or other outside activity the medicine would lose it's effectiveness.

Clearly being sick is the same as unleashing unnecessary carcinogens and immediate respiratory irritants in a public area just so a person can get their fix.

So only necessary carcinogens can be released to the atmosphere? Shall we now ban going for a joyride?

What don't you get?

Riding in public transportation was restricted for some people until Rosa Parks said "no."

Now, we're going in reverse, and people don't have a problem with that.

That is in no way comparable to what's going on here.

People like Rosa Parks were discriminated against for an innate characteristic that they cannot shed. The same cannot be said about cigarrette smokers.

You can leave your cigarrette at the door, but you can't leave your black-ness at the door.

Has anyone even addressed the issue of Third Hand Smoke(THS) and the creation of Nitrosamine? After a junkie gets his fix and his cancer causing smoke all up in my lungs it sticks to my clothes and hair among other things and should I come into contact with another chemical that would create Nitrosamine I had an additional added risk of Cancer.

You know, that wouldn't be a bad idea in congested cities(where exhaust is in high enough concentrations to be significantly harmful.) Ofc it's entirely unenforceable.

Smoking is something that can be stopped.

time to change the way everyone eats as well. Along with all the other toxins put into our bodies that cause cancer.

Like people keep saying, if this is about the infinitesimal (speaking of whom, what happened to that troll?) chance of getting cancer from a whiff of smoke, ban smoking. Otherwise, be prepared to take responsibility that with life comes risk. What you do to minimize the risks that are important to you is your responsibility.

It would be a terrible idea, not just because it's unenforcable, but also for the incredible intrusion on liberty over such a minimal risk.

Smoking is NOT something that can be stopped, just look at the drug war and alcohol's prohibition era.
