To be honest DEI has forced bad hirings. Anyone who deny’s that is so blindly biased that having any form of conversation with them is pointless.
Not only is DEI detrimental to companies but it’s prejudice in its very essence when partnered with grants, stipulation and forcing hiring statistics to meet certain standards.
The best person for the job should always be hired. This means the persons qualifications, personality, outlook and goals should ALL align better with that of the company’s than any other candidate. Does that lead to certain races or religions getting certain jobs? Absolutely but only because of that person as an overall package may not mesh with the goals because of their own beliefs, personality and other such things. Which honestly saves that individual and the company from having to experience a very unpleasant work relationship together in the long run.
Gaming industry is the best example. From concord to Veliguard, people refuse to buy/pre-order games. The Witcher franchise is set to be butchered with Ciri as the main char fighting the patriachy, Assassin Creed Shadows with a black samurai and a lesbian chick, Ghost of Yotei again with a female lgbtq+ samurai and trans writers.
Bioware is closing studios left and right, EA share lost a lot, Ubisoft is on a verge of bankruptcy. To be honest, from the new AAA games, only Black Myth Wukong comes to my mind as worth playing. I am not interested in the new hollywood movies ether.
