You like Rhone wines? I prefer Bordeaux and Pomerol .
I always managed to get some good ones at cheap price.

Oh crap, I stayed at Vavin actually.
Ye Rhône is my go-to drug. Not big on Bordeaux. I event went to Chateneuf-du-pape in Nov 2021 to taste the good stuff.
I really like Domaine/Chateau des Tours/Rayas. It was a great wine for many years done by one arrogant farmer guy, but then it became very popular with sophisticated crowds and prices increased from 20-30€ to 180-200€ per bottle lol.
Clos Saint Jean had a great Rhône wineyard that they didn’t incorporate into their Chateneuf - priced at 8-10€. However they’ve sold it to somebody who blends grape into their wines and that bottle ceased to exist.
This years discovery was Domaine du Banneret - a tip from my friend in Geneva. It’s a bit higher than my typical budget for such wines, but well worth it if you ever get a chance.
https://i.imgur.com/lCZmll5.jpgCotes du rhone is strong, you better to take it with saucy red meat and all, with bordeau you have a larger panel.
You should try Bourgogne.
White wines can be very interesting with foie gras -Sauterne- or sea food/salmon: -Pouilly- . With a special note for
Sancerre young (sea food) or aged (poultry, cheese)
