holy mother of hackery. how can anyone look at trump's foreign policy and call undercutting the iran deal / escalating with nk / escalating the palestine conflict / contradicting and embarrassing his own state department / threatening UN members / flip-flopping on NATO, syria, china, troop deployments / isolating america on climate change, immigration, and the israel conflic... and claim some kind of "strategy" or "plan"? he is a clueless buffoon bumbling and stumbling through international diplomacy, ridiculing himself and the whole country in the process, and if he didn't happen to be the leader of the most powerful western nation, no one would even consider taking him seriously... people are scrambling to clean up and rationalise the mess he tends to leave behind, but it really takes a whole lot of ignorance (or hackery) to actually not see what's going on and how incompetent he is.

Trump ain't pretty, but his methods will work.

Time for you to stop judging the book by it's cover, and actually read the book.

I agree with fender, I don't think Trump's moves are a part of some broad, consistent strategy. He balances geopolitical reality with American political reality. How in the hell does gutting the State Department and undermining his SoS help America? If Trump wants to be effective at pushing an "America First" foreign policy, why would he not want a strong State Department to find diplomatic solutions to problems like North Korea and Syria? Or to make bilateral trade deals? I don't know how allowing the sale of small arms weapons to Ukraine is an America First position either... what difference does that actually make on the ground? How does that enable us to have a better relationship with Russia? Punting the Iran deal to congress is just a cowardly move to deflect some of the responsibility for ultimately ending the agreement. What's the alternative to the Iran deal? Trump can swoop in and sweet talk some Muslims(and the other members of the deal) into better terms? Trump doesn't know much at all about foreign policy, and he's not the type(like Obama) to take an active interest in learning. Luckily he surrounded himself with a solid national security team to talk him down from his ridiculous positions.

His Syria strike was a move consistent with his America First doctrine.

Obama wasn't seeking to stir up trouble or get mired in a Middle Eastern war either, which is why his intervention in Libya was limited, his Syria intervention was limited, he pulled out of Iraq and he(after an initial surge) continued to reduce troop levels in Afghanistan. Let's drop the revisionist history of Obama, he took measured approaches to conflict(and was roundly criticized for doing so by hawks) which made sense at the time. Hindsight is 20/20.

1. Just because you have a bigger State Dept. doesn't mean you have a better State Dept.
2. Bilateral trade deals are great, IF we aren't the ones bent over, taking it up the....
3. Selling anything tom other countries...brings in more money for the US. And the Ukraine kinda needs the help anyways.
4. Putting the Iran deal to Congress, kind of forces congress to act like adults, rather than squabbling kids.
5. As for Obama...

I believe under Trump the national debt has hit a new record high.

"highest poverty level in american history" (data collection begun in 1991 to create this statistic)

"worst rioting since 1967" (said local man born in 1972)

"lowest economy growth in American history" (probably)
