At 6:00 mark:
"the Republican party went out of its way to remove 13 million people from the health roles, and are proud of it". - Mike Barnicle

What a laughable, dishonest statement. Republicans aren't going to fine people for not having health insurance anymore, thus, 13 million people will choose not to have health insurance. Morning Joe seems to be getting more blowhardy and less nuanced every month.

Opposition politics is a downward spiral. Let's hope it swings before the left pushes shit as whacky as birther conspiracies.

Following that was Joe saying he's a conservative in favor of tax cuts, except a couple minutes later he explains that tax cuts aren't going to grow the economy or encourage corporations to invest more in their business.

This is Joe's shtick these days... claim to be a conservative and then criticize every conservative piece of legislation that comes out.

I agree with your assesment of his shtick generally. I think there Hes taking about a more middle America centered cut tho

okay so a roundup:

  • Tax Bill has passed congress
  • Trump is not going to sign it until January 3rd, in order to make not make automatic medicare cuts occur under PAYGO, with the democrats holding their own health insurance priorities hostage to force Trump not to be able to get it in before christmas
  • Nancy Pelosi is calling for a shutdown and asking democrats to vote no on even a continuing resolution to punt the budget into january
  • Trump issued a new comprehensive US national security plan in an 80 page document detailing a fleshed out protectionist, non-isolationist non-interventionalist middle-of-the-road plan that focuses on economic security (add that to the pile of evidence icemage)
  • Trump commuted the sentence of Sholom Rubashkin which has been politicized since its start, due to the anti-right-of-return argument in bail hearings, prosecutorial conduct and false testimony, and the judge not recusing despite being involved in the raid on his plant
  • A bunch of companies are jumping on the tax bill to push bonuses and minimum wage hikes for good PR, some of them co-opting already settled union compromises and dressing them up as a result of the tax bill, but its a good sign either way

For married couples filing jointly, effective Jan. 1, 2018 and ending in 2026, income tax would be:

 So they kicked the can down the road for normal people. Got it. Just enough to get them elected again and then its the blue teams problem.

Quote
OBAMACARE MANDATE: Repeals a federal fine imposed on Americans under Obamacare for not obtaining health insurance coverage, a change expected to undermine the 2010 healthcare law.

ANWR DRILLING: Allows oil drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Also not good ^^ The very people this is supposed to help are going to feel pain when they need healthcare and fucking with Alaska shouldnt happen. It would be nice to not suck the life from ALL nice places.

'ending in 2026'
except they're going to vote to renew the tax cuts by then, just like what happened with the Bush tax cuts
and they're quite open about it: The temporary cut-off is just a method to fit it under the $1.5T limit to make it palatable to the freedom caucus while everyone in the GOP plans on making them permanent anyway, because it gives them enough to get them elected again when they campaign on it, puts democrats into a bad place where they have to grudgingly embrace the tax cuts after first voting against them, and they know full well that it can't fail because voting for a tax hike is political suicide

No they didn't just kick the can down the road. read it again, all of it, and try to be objective.

As for the Obamacare mandate... You are claiming it's not fair to poor people, when it's blatantly not fair for people working for a living to overpay enough to support those not working or too poor.
The problem is the COST of health insurance. It is not the govts. right to make those who worked their asses off, pay for those that are too poor to buy health insurance.
You should be attacking the insurers, who are overcharging.

The first time I heard about Obamacare fining people who didn't want to buy insurance, I was like...wtf ?!?
That's like the govt. telling folks they HAD to buy.....tuna fish, even if they didn't want to. I doubt that the forced to buy health insurance part of Obamacare is even legal.

On another note, just reading through the US politics part of Reuters...it seems the Dems are starting to foam at the mouth. Getting ...rabid, even.
