Expect Putin to use one conquered people to conquer another, so that they can't rebel effectively themselves, the Chechnyans. That is going to add a layer of brutality to the fight. Terrorism is going to ramp up I imagine. I suppose the world needs a permanent war al la 1984. If it can't be in Afghanistan it will be in Eastern Europe.
Russia has an excuse to have a shitty economy, ration things, and conscript soldiers. The US gets to act sanctimonious and post Ukrainian flags on social media which I'm sure warms their hearts.
