Governor Bumblyfuck? He's incompetent. Don't take my word for it, take his own. The graphic pretends there's a cause/effect relationship that doesn't exist, unless people are prepared to state that spending $900M to provide all-day kindergarten provided the needed boost to the economy by training competent workers. Budget surpluses and deficits for the states is a complete non-argument. Every state balances its budget every year. They HAVE to. That the mumbler-in-chief went and raised taxes beyond the unrealistic projections of growth in the state budget doesn't show off any strength of Minnesota's economy. He also came back the very next session asking to cut some of those taxes he raised. Not because he "raised too much," but so he could CLAIM he cut taxes. Which he tried to do. Even the hyper-liberal Minneapolis Star & Sickle Tribune called him on that lie. And why are Minnesota's median wages so much higher than Wisconsin's? Because we have the 4th highest tax burden in the nation to overcome. According to the census bureau, MN leads WI by only $3k in disposable income - income after taxation.

That doesn't sound bad. Available daycare, preschool, and extended kindergarten would definitely be an improvement on a system that counts on somebody being able to keep a domestic helper or housewife at home when that typically isn't economically feasible.

My biggest reservation with these programs is what type of jobs are being trained for by people utilizing the services. We did something like that here a few years back and trained a bunch of lab techs that nobody really needed.

Also, taxing too much and then cutting back what you don't need is a far superior and more responsible approach than just half-assing whatever it is you're trying to accomplish and calling that government.

Even if people from Minnesota are paying more, they seem like they're getting much more in return. If the grass is really greener....I don't see mass immigrations to Wisconsin from anybody at all tbh...their little radical is castrating his state.

Lol, Dayton and daycare. That's a whole other topic. Trying to unionize small business owners.

All-day kindergarten was payback for the teacher's union. There are no data that show educational outcomes of half-day is any worse than full-day.

He raised taxes far more than he KNEW he needed. It was punitive. That type of mentality has no place in governance.

Minnesotans don't immigrate to Wisconsin because they have really high property tax rates instead of income tax rates like we do. Living there and working here - which is easy to do with the Minneapolis/St Paul metropolitan area on the border - simply isn't an option. There's also something to be said for leaving one cold locale for another.

So you're telling me he ran a surplus? So in case he ever needed more money, he had some available? He balanced the budget and worked towards paying off debt?

Damn, last time I heard that it was called fiscal responsibility.
