I think ideas have a profound effect on the world. They exist outside and between us in collective consciousness. The Protestant Ethic for example.

you make great faith based religious arguments for a non physical mind

sounds religious

Religion has a pretty powerful effect on the world. Neither my cats nor my dog are religious either.

it would appear skinny shaming is now a thing where fat people harass women for weighing under 200 lbs on social media - and it's considered socially acceptable

it's perfectly acceptable on social media as a whole to attack people for being skinny or fit while praising morbidly obese whales as beautiful - this is what happens when the average citizen weighs 300 pounds

It must be hard to keep things away from your mouth if you have those kinds of stretch marks.

Could it just be that a lot of petty haters are emboldens by social media and that people always being like this is more of a likely answer.

Before social media there was magazine covers shaming people, or images on television. Before that people were talking shit on frescos on temple walls.

I think you're just hysterical about this whole thing.

The person on the bottom of those two memes is a normal looking person with probably no health concerns. I wouldn't see her and be like "metabolic syndrome".

It is uncommon to see a really really obese person put a picture of themselves in their bra and panties and people be encouraging. Maybe you can find a few. I mean obese, not somebody who enjoys three meals and day and light exercise like the woman on bottom probably does. This girl doesn't even have a gut.

People commenting on pictures on social media sure are a good representation of what's socially acceptable...

Each and every person in those comments is an idiot. I do not understand how their opinions and actions are relevant to this thread.

magazine covers are supposed to be motivational showing what healthy bodies look like
the obese insecure fatties have grown large in number and have started swinging their weight around to change societal values and they've successfully normalized obesity which is why you see a proud obese woman like that as normal
i wouldn't be surprised if she had knee problems that can be attributed to her weight

the things you're allowed to say in public without any kind of repercussions is a perfect representation of things that are socially acceptable
conversely a number of groups that have been advocating for healthy fit bodies have been banned from various kinds of social media outlets because their message of promoting healthy values has been labelled hate speech
