Not sticking up for white folk here, but wtf?
14 year old kid either knows or doesn't know...where his high school is. Doesn't he have neighbors? Or, why the fuck would you walk to somewhere you weren't sure you knew the location of?

Dearborn, Michigan is supposed to be a very rich neighborhood. Doesn't the kid's family have an alarm clock?

Pretend for a second, that everyone in this situation was ...white. Would you believe the kids story? I wouldn't.

Conversely, if I was 14 and was somehow late for school, and scared to death of the trouble I would get into... I would ask next store neighbor for help. Ya know, like someone who knows me.

Are you intentionally missing everything important to the story like the fact that he missed a bus so he was probably not right outside his own home?

I dunno how they do things down under, but in the US the school buses come to you. Especially in wealthy neighborhoods.

Don't quote me out of context. I don't care if they were all white. Some teenager pounding on some old ladies door at ..7:00 am or w/e, and NOT that of a next door neighbor, will get a bad reaction most of the time.
