I already did. I gave him the sofa and then when my lodger moved out I gave him the spare room. He lived here rent free for 9 months and now he is at college and paying (very reasonable) rent. Soon he'll move on to his own place.

Though if the state was better at caring for it's citizens I wouldn't have had to. I shouldn't have to. That's my point.

I know. But when I took him in he was seriously ill and had problems getting benefits. It took 9 months to sort the benefits out. He wasn't fucking around with it either. I helped him with all the paperwork. It really did take that long to get some money for him sorted.

Soon as he did get money and was not as ill (diabetes, and no he's not fat he's skinny as fuck) he began contributing financially and started going to college.

All that is besides the point though. There's plenty of people I wouldn't let sleep on my sofa. People who are seriously mentally ill and could be dangerous to me and my gf for example. Those people still need care, shelter, food etc. It's the government's responsibility to see they aren't sleeping on the streets and rifling through bins for leftovers.
