If you take apart a cat the emergent property of life will be lost. If it is just a sum of parts you could reassemble it with nothing lost. Except something will be lost, because you will just have a dead cat.

So to you bringing back the dead is just a matter of technology?

And where is the mind itself at? Which gland or organ? There is a lot in there. Most of what we know about it is What it oozes and what happens afterward.

We know about neuroreceptors but that isn't the mind. Those are neuroreceptors.

The mind is electricity, the same unbound electricity that permeates the universe.

Chomp on my greens with that mercury in your head. Hopefully you bite some foil and feel it in your spine.

None of that means you couldn't restore the mind by putting the brain back the way it was. All evidence I've seen actually points to the opposite, that our mind is a product of the physical state of our brain.

It absolutely does emerge from the physical combination of things in our body. We agree on that wholeheartedly. It is not an independent thing and the body is prior.

But there is a mind and it effects the body once it emerges.

I was attacking the .metaphysics of Duffman, hardcore, materialist, whose metaphysical position i would classify as (sigh) epiphenominalism, which is a real word in the philosophy of mind.

It states that consciousness is a byproduct of matter but has no effect on the world as the universe still works by principles of scientific materialism.

So an unfounded belief. Glad we're on the same page :)

I'm right there with you.

i'm not the one asserting the existence of things i have no evidence for

no one has been able to prove the existence of non physical things let alone a mind so i see no reason to believe in such nonsense

as for taking things apart and putting them back togather, give me some money, some equipment and test subjects (morbidly obese people perhaps to stay on topic) and i'll come up with some creative experiments that'll help us get down to the bottom of this whole mind/body thing

Americans with 2 kids and medium/low income don't spend nearly $342 a month. A pic of US vs Chad in terms of food expenditure, or anything else based on wealth is silly and pointless.

i think you are a bit rude with that picture i posted, imo it's a pretty correct & instructive document, illustrating in various ways the problem.
btw look like we got 4 kids on the right pic
