well im not religious so I fundamentally disagree, its entirely a personal/religious issue. only FOUR first world countries are regressing with their abortion laws, the United States, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Poland.
This is the thing about "democracy". Certain things boil down to the voters. Including whether to treat unborn children as children or not children.
I'm not religious, yet I see it as murder. I don't think there's a damned thing "regressive" about not allowing doctors to commit murder.
On the flipside, keeping this centered on the IVF thing, I'm not into test tube babies at all, so I have a hard time coming up with an opinion there. Thankfully, the state can decide for itself where it places the sanctity of life.
Hence, it's absolutely a State's issue. Whether the State chooses to outlaw a thing such as the willful destruction of embryos or chooses to say, "Nah, it's cool bro, in fact, we'll give clinics and doctors blanket immunity for anything relating to IVF" that's fine. The State can decide. And I don't live in Alabama, so why would it be important to me? In fact, your "local time" is US Pacific, so it doesn't much matter to you, either, does it?
