That's kind of hard for me to agree with considering the insanely large number of confused people in the US, who seem to think they are governed by 2,300+ year old Israeli law.

When a person's foundation of knowledge is a bunch of fairy tale stories designed to control people so that a king can have power over them, it's much easier for them to fall for lies and tricks since they're already being lied to and tricked.

As far as I am aware of, there aren't many Bible literalists. Most present-day Christians have evolved and adapted with the times. For example, you will very rarely get people who refuse life-saving blood transfusion even though the Bible forbids stuff like that.



Except the Bible is not meant to give people knowledge. It's about having faith and living a proper life.

I am not a Christian and I don't defend the Bible gratuitously. I just don't like it when people attack it for no reason. Christianity has its bad moments but it has good ones, too. Christians are involved in a lot of charities where I live and most of them genuinely want to help people and do good. We should give them credit where it's due.

I think that is a pretty limited view of religion, some of the greatest thinkers in history have been devoutly religious, probably most actually, isn't that worth considering? I'm not arguing evangelists are all brilliant by any means but simply being devout in your religion doesn't mean you can't be very intelligent.
