Nah, that mandate went away when he resigned.

That's why I was talking about "at least some degree of a mandate". ;)

Yeah. Zero degrees.

Closer to zero than 100, but definitely greater than zero. Which is more than any other Tory candidate could claim.

"Rishi Sunak voted to leave the EU"

Well they're already doing better than Liz Truss

Boris not throwing his hat in helped them in the markets, as did the uncontested leadership bid, as did the fact that he is seen as the most reliable, of the 3. I cant see them doing any snap election. Will know in the next 4 weeks whether he is capable or not, as the Northern Ireland issue will...crystallize...by then.

I think the opposition has a stronger mandate than Boris does.

Boris "I resigned in disgrace and so did the next PM" vs "We tried both of their policies and they didn't work. Maybe change course guys...."

But if you're just looking to infinitely double down, sure, Boris has a "mandate" to keep making the same mistakes over and over.

Sure, because India wasn't part of the British Empire until 1947 or anything.

He's a known quantity as he has been around these last few years (when he was finance minister). He was born in Southampton.
