this is a reality with any vaccination though, when speaking from a moral standpoint you could make the argument that the incredibly small chance of getting a bad reaction would never outweigh the net positive you would receive from getting vaccinated

The potential for variants to arise that limit the efficacy of vaccines was always something being warned about. Lo and behold, the massive number of worldwide infections created the exact thing that was warned about.

Masks as well have always been effective. The only time they were recommended against was very early in the pandemic due to the potential for shortages for medical workers.
