But I think I agree that by the time we hit the Star Trek phase of society, we will be far beyond the petty racial and class warfare shit we're seeing right now - at least I would hope so. By that time, there would be so much more to think about than the nonsense we get tied up in on Earth today. I think we just need bigger problems to keep us busy and working together - an alien invasion would cure human on human racism instanteously.
People in the west are so spoiled and privileged that it's scary. People don't experience real hardship other than that created by their own stupidity. Wars are fought overseas not within our own borders, hungry people get food stamps and stimulus checks, junkies these days are allowed to have their dope in certain blue states, criminals get honored when their luck runs out and are killed by a cop that wanted to arrest them.
Take China for contrast: People work their butts off, the law is strictly enforced --> 42 criminal offences are eligible for the death penalty
