If your argument is "we will eventually go further" then that means you don't actually have a problem with this. The right thing to do isn't "stop here so we don't go further" when it concerns rights. The right thing to do is keep going until you hit the wall and stop on the wall, or you end up causing a lot of harm to a lot of people.
