I don't think you understand what a diasporic community is.

you seem to be fairly confused. these Chinese rules affect ALL Muslims living in China. both immigrants and "native" Muslim people who could trace a direct lineage back as far as 1,000 years from middle eastern immigrant descent, or and here's where it gets REALLY crazy, they could be Asian people who's ancestors converted to Islam 750 years ago. Or it could be people who immigrated last year. but the rules affect all the same. No Islamic style roofs on a mosque, whether it was built in 2017 or 1842. No Islamic crescants on your business sign, whether that sign is brand new or a 200 year old sign passed down in your family business. etc

now i know you'll either discount or ignore this post, or worse yet respond something like "well yeah but what's the chance....." (a few posts after admitting that we dont know their immigration status, then abruptly saying they "sound like immigrants"). but hey, maybe basic facts will out.

Check this out... seems that China took over what is now present day China completely in 1892. For me, that's the end of it. You can't accuse ONLY one country of illegal expansionist tendencies and not all the other countries that did the same thing.

In those days, EVERY country or group was fighting for dominance in land areas all over the world. Looks to me like China won... modern day China.

i've largely automated my own position without letting my boss know the extent to which my job is now automatic. i also replaced several unsavory workers in a few depts by automating their positions as well. or more accurately, creating enough resources for the departments that they can trim out the problematic employees. I work in conveyor belt automation engineering and project management. so i created several automated drawing tools to take the place of conventional drafters. i made our drafters super drafters. and i've created a few programs to automatically do a few functions of the project management, some as simple as precanned templates some more complicated like scheduling programs.

What the hell kind of tangent are you going off on? On one hand, you're talking about native Uighurs who have emigrated to other countries (and when the subject is about Muslims living IN China, there's a huge distinction between immigration and emigration), and on the other hand, you're talking about Chinese expansionism into historical Uighur territory, and if the Uighurs that resided there haven't left, how are they immigrants again?

Actually, the subject is about signs in China. I didn't bring up the Uyghur. I'm just trying to respond to folks who keep thinking that China doesn't run China.

China owns China... all of it. They are a country of their own. The can pass w/e laws they want. Or do you think China should get a say in the laws we pass as well? This topic... or should I say the responses, are baffling to me. It's almost like folks on PaRD think they have a say in what China does in it's own country.

I think that passing a law that says all signs in a country should be in the language of that country, is a GOOD law. The reasons for which I've stated many times in this topic.
As for tangents... where do I get them... are they for sale? Has PaRD been hiding this information from me?

If my responding to someone else going off on a tangent is considered MY going off on a tangent, then folks need to look up the definition of tangents.

you're just being silly. people expose the blatant issues with your posts and positions and you squirm to a tangent every time.

all someone had to do was point out the laws affected native muslims and you squirmed over into a pointless history lesson that disproves your own idea that these people are immigrants.

learn to sit down like a man and take an L. you called them immigrants, they aren't, and digging 1000 years back just to avoid saying you're wrong shows how childish and disagreeable you've been all thread.

you still haven't admitted the first amendment applies to business signs. you just squirmed over into "china can do what it wants", after getting schooled on the fact that the USA doesnt have an official language, and after you advocated the USA follows chinas footsteps because of a 25 year old grievance about chinatown before Google maps existed. you even claimed people would get confused by red octagons without "stop" on it. or worse yet "el alto" (wrong spanish), gasp the horror.
