seems to me that the general public seems to struggle with the concept of the burden of proof being on the prosecution

for one liberals are oikophobic so they inherently distrust a system that was in place before their time

for two, they are egotistical, so they think by shoving their own hands in everything, they'll make it all so much better and efficient and consistent

In general we've been wanting news faster and faster, making us discussing news without many facts. I'd say pushing to wait for facts is important in the time we live in. But we still need to discuss the news even when the story is premature.
