True. It is occupied after a war which Israel didn’t start.
I can’t think of a country that didn’t shaped its borders through war.
The next is Not connected to the comment, but I’ll like to hear opinions on this:
The common ground of every society should be the desire to live in peace. Israel is happened to be a young state, established after the horrors of WWII. The discussion if Israel should or shouldn’t exist is irrelevant. What we do need in this country is a solution which allows us to co-exist in our neighborhood.
Israelis , just like many Palestinians , was born into this situation. Nothing much I can do to change the past. And because of the constant failure in ending the conflict, a lot of us lost hope.
The way I see it, we already lost the chance for one happy family.
The solution I’m for, is the two states solution. The way to get it is unclear.
Either a strong , charismatic leader will emerge and force the situation to end (by two states or one state) - By making painful decisions.
OR we will be at a civil war which change the whole existing system to something else.
Ofc other things which are not necessarily connected to Israel might happend (such as war or being forced down by superpowers) - but it’s not up to us.
Any other solutions in the horizon ?
What would you think will happen ?
I think a two state solution is not feasible and neither the status quo sustainable.
I think a one state solution will emerge after a big Israeli military defeat.
I wish that would have happened already or will happen without war, but as of current conditions Israelis will not accept it before they feel the heat of a military defeat.
