I love how this thread has devolved into a dick measuring, I'm sorry, IQ measuring contest with a little partisan politics from both sides.

A "wall" wouldn't have stopped or prevented this tragedy, the perpetrator was a United States citizen. A law a biding citizen with a concealed weapon wouldn't have stopped it as you can't legally carry in an establishment who's primary business is the dispensement of alcoholic beverages under Florida law. I don't know if anything could have prevented it.

This is the real world kiddos, there are bad people in it that want to do bad things. They come in all genders, races, religions, nations, and they want to kill or hurt people of all genders, races, religions, nations and they really don't care about collateral damage. You can try to ban guns or severely restrict guns like they've done in the EU where there is still gun violence or have a pretty pro gun nation like the United States where there is still gun violence it honestly makes no difference except in the United States there is a much greater chance of a good guy having a gun close to where the bad guy's are.

The solution of making all Muslims carry a special ID isn't the right one, we would be just taking a step back to where jews had to wear a yellow Star of David on their clothing and couldn't do certain jobs, had to live in certain places, and where eventually rounded up and put into death camps because they posed a "threat" to a nation. There are plenty of innocent Muslims that are just as appalled at this act of violence.

What needs to happen is ALL threats of violence need to be taken seriously, more seriously than they are now to the point where you threaten to shoot people then you go to jail, period. I also believe conceal carry laws should be changed to allow more access for citizens to carry in more places. I also think people who are eligible should take the class and get a concealed license and carry. I believe that every school should have an armed school resource officer or an armed security guard on site every day while school is in session.

Again RIP to the victims and their friends/families.

Sic Vis Pacem Para Bellum

As a liberal I agree.

I am a gun totting Democrat. If guns are going to be available for everyone then I will have one to defend my self.

Due note that there was a off duty police officer there armed and this still happened. Guns wont solve everything.

We need to get rid of the plague that is ISIS and the Islamic State. Not muslims.. but the extremists.

It actually does make a difference, no matter where you are the more guns are available the higher the instance of gun violence, which results in a worse outcome than other forms of violence.

doesn't Chicago have the strictest gun laws?

It doesn't really matter if one city has strict gun laws if it's surrounded by areas where guns are available. Any gun legislation would have to be on the federal level to actually be effective, otherwise you just get people going to the state with less regulation and bringing them to the state with more.

Word on the street is that the shooter was a self-hating gay. I hear he frequented the club in question before the event and had a Grindr profile.

He obviously didn't pray enough or it would have gone away on its own.

Reading that he was a regular at gay night clubs and a former classmate claimed they went to gay night clubs together.

Problem with religion is people keep saying these are extremists, the real issue is with islam this very act is not only supported but encouraged on a fundamental level, this is not extremism, this is fundamentalism, the quran is FULL of violent acts like this.

Any fundamental religion is extreme because they were formed around very different mores and folkways.

I heard that the guy didn't get fired for being a homophobe or anti-Semite. Well not shocking. Homophobia and antisemitism is pretty common in the US still. I imagine if every racist or bigot was fired from their job we would have massive unemployment.

Cartoons make Hitler and Holocaust jokes on television. The literal humanness of homosexuals are often debated in some circles, with people likening them to animals all the time. They say letting gays get married to each other will lead to dog-marriage.

People are pissed off that he wasn't fired, because some coworker said that he believes it was because the guy was a Muslim. Well if employers just started firing people en masse because they weren't respectful of gays or because they weren't respectful for homosexuals the cries from this forum would be heard across the United States, as over half of PaRD here was handed pink slips.
