Reminds me of a story in the Bible about how Jesus predicted that Peter would deny knowledge of Christ three times before the cock crowed, he did it to save his own skin much like "taqiya" forgives the Muslim for lying about their faith when under extreme pressure. Peter went on to be a central figure in establishing the Christian churches and spreading the good news of Jesus.
