A very sad day. And for the people who don't understand why this is such a tragedy, I'll explain why.

The average number of murders per year during that time was roughly 16,000 which is about 45 per day assuming uniform distribution.

The yearly murder rate jumped over 18% because of 9/11.
The daily murder rate was 66 times higher that day.

This is why 9/11 and other tragedies are awful. We see an unexpected, massive spike in the amount of people who die.
