They both are pointless and needlessly pollute the air. We had the technology to create hydrogen based vehicles a long time ago my friend.

Not necessarily needlessly. In order for some people to get food they have to have it delivered to their local supermarket. Without cars this would not be possible especially in areas where food cannot be grown locally due to climate or soil or other geographical features. In order for our economy and our civilization to continue we must use cars that pollute until we get a better alternative for cars or a better alternative car that does not pollute. Smoking is nothing like any of what I just said. The best thing that smoking does is provide satisfaction or pleasure to those who are smoking it.

No, they're not both pointless. Automobile technology is paramount to any massive/progressive society and the fact that they currently pollute the air does not change this. We're also making strides towards more environmentally friendly forms of transportation anyway.

Doing away with automobiles would cripple our society, the same cannot be said about cigarettes.

tobacco does filter the smoke to some extent, and he's right about sidestream smoke being much worse than first-hand and second-hand smoke
