Countries with hunting rifles, (bolt action, semi's and levers) + shotguns can do everything a gun would ever be required for in regard to normal civilian use. You don't need an AR or an AK for anything. A shotgun with a buckshot provides more home self-defence than either for the average civilian if that's what you honestly want a gun for and if that's the reason you want a gun I feel bad you live in such a shithole country where that level of paranoia exists in your brain. Birds, big game, small game, hobby shooting, wildlife self-defence, nothing else is required.
I live in the arctic around polar bears, grizzly bears, a ton of wolves and the pump shotgun is a go to for most people.
