Trump vs the NFL is an interesting dynamic
The NFL cannot afford to alienate Trump supporters because the viewership and attendance is heavily skewed to them, but at the same time Trump risks alienating his less politically inclined supporters who are driven in a wedge between him and the NFL. While a large subset will follow the rationale of dislike politicization of the anthem and games, direct attacks on the NFL like today mean he could lose support among those who never cared enough about the NFL politics but will be defensive over attacks on their sport.
If the NFL doubles down on its anti-Trump stance and ownership doesn't intervene, it would be a lose-lose situation, with the potential to greatly harm both of them.

agreed, both trump and the nfl owners should just ignore the protesting players. either let it die down, or let them get booed by the people in the stadiums. maybe even set more examples like they did with kapernick. if all nfl owners agree on boycotting the leaders of the player protests, this will eventually get many of the hacks to think twice about their priorities: career vs making a stand.

I'm guessing many more players are going to take a knee this Sunday.

Not to mention Trump dis-invited(even though they were never actually invited yet) the Golden State Warriors to the White House. Just standard man baby stuff.

I think you could guess any day of the week that the political shitshow would continue to accelerate and you'd be right every time

From this past year I thought Trump was a sideshow and wasn't even a contender in the primaries and I thought Hillary would win handily even after he got the nomination, but my biggest miscalculation was when after inauguration I still thought that the furor, politicization and radicalism would dissipate in coming months. I've learned to be more cynical

i dont understand why one would even make further statements about this
it has backfired enough on kaepernick, who still has no team despite several teams having quarterbacks that are easily worse

that being said, what is the big fuss about anyway, these players dont even realise that they are protesting something that doesnt even exist and are just useful pawns for the deranged left

i'm personally shocked that after dropping Bannon, then a week of hemorrhaging the base via DECA tweets and working with Pelosi-Shumer, and then another week of election hacking results, Manafort dealings, and Facebook ad buys, that Trump would come out and rile the base back up with NFL kneeling tweets as well as escalation in North Korea dealings.

Trump went to the middle, pedes be damned. He can afford to shake off his disloyal loyalists if he can seize the immoderate moderates
