A hospital in gaza is struck by a massive explosion that kills ~150 people.
Sources in Gaza immediately say it was an Israeli missile. The Gaza Health Ministry immediately puts out a much higher number of dead instantly, despite having no possible time to count them all. Protests erupt in the west bank, canada, egypt, iraq, jordan, kuwait, lebanon, libya, morocco, qatar, syria, turkey, the UK and yemen. In Jordan they try to storm the israeli embassy. The BBC immediately reports it as an Israeli airstrike despite no evidence of that. The New York Times follows them and claims it was an Israeli Strike that killed at least 500, despite their own journalists complaining to management that these headlines were provably false. They cite Hamas sources. Le Monde follows with the same claims. Al jazeera, "journalists" in gaza, the red crescent, human rights watch, anti-zionists, gaza doctors all making the same claim

It turns out it was a rocket fired by Islamic Jihad, from a nearby graveyard. All of the above sources were lying. The BBC lied, the New York Times lied, Le Monde lied, the journalists and doctors and humanitarian organizations all lied. They all admit to lying, and even knowing they were wrong before posting their blood libel.

Further investigations by the IDF and AP and WaPo all in tandem find Palestinians launched an errant rocket just seconds earlier, from a trajectory that would have taken it in the direction of the hospital and landed on it at the exact time of the video of the explosions. As well as footage of all Israeli Iron Dome missiles in the air at that moment, all too far away from the site to have landed there.
Both the US intelligence community and the IDF report they had intercepted two Hamas operatives talking on a wiretapped line immediately after the blast, and they said a misfired rocket from the PIJ caused the explosion.

And to this day, Palestinian sources and media still carry on with the pretense that it was a Jewish conspiracy and actually an Israeli airstrike.
They lied, they continued to lie, and they will keep up the lies indefinitely

Your argument is that the forced displacement of Palestinians is only temporary, right ? I mean, you do agree that 2.3M people have been kicked out of their homes and their homes have been destroyed right? so are the settlers going to let Palestinians return to the West Bank and Gaza ? or if that does not happen within a short time frame, say, 6 months, would you agree that at that point it is ethnic cleansing ?

I am not saying ethnic cleansing is right or wrong, i am looking at this purely from a factual standpoint.

Ethnic Cleansing - the mass expulsion of members of one ethnic or religious group in an area by those of another.

I've said since the start the most humanitarian and pragmatic option was for Israel to displace all civilians from Gaza and put them into camps so the IDF would be free to fight the remaining militants / free remaining hostages without the civilians being in the way. And once the hot stage of the war was over, Israel would have the choice of annexing Gaza and ethnically cleansing the population with this forced displacement being made permanent, or return them to Gaza after the temporary camps and perhaps administer the entirety of Gaza as an occupied territory instead of leaving it to its own devices like they've done.

The worse approach is to wind up eventually doing something of the same sort as above, except spend 2-3 years dicking around trying to bomb militants hiding among civilians and kill tens of thousands in collateral damage, newly joined militants and famine.
End result being the same, but all kinds of unnecessary death preceding it. All because Ehud Olmert would label it as concentration camps


This conflict like so much of western geopolitics is absolutely riven by the lunatics that reject realpolitik, we'd gladly inflict years of devastating wars, massacres and obliterated cities if it makes us feel morally good about our methods. The very concept of ends justifying means, even if it would save hundreds of thousands of lives, is unthinkable to us. We'll call it nazi methods while we ally ourselves with actual nazis who commit such war crimes. And the sad reality is that we're not going to pay a price for our moral insanity, its the Palestinians and Ukrainians and Syrians who die needless deaths en masse for our failings.

Well lets see where we are in 6 months time and in 10 years time.
