the military has taken a progressive step towards closing the gender gap by removing the requirement to throw grenades at a safe distance because too many recruits throw like girls

i do hope many of our new recruits realize friendly fire is turned on in real life

The United States Army will no longer require recruits to show they can throw hand grenades 25 meters because many of them can’t throw the explosive far enough, it revealed on Friday.

The Army says that starting next summer it will remove the requirement from its Basic Combat Training because it takes too much time to teach enlistees to throw grenades at an adequate distance.

...

Many who are critical of the army's recent attempts to recruit women jumped on the news to blame increased diversity in the army for the drop in physical demands.

On Facebook, John Clayton wrote: 'Army to lower hand grenade requirements because women do not have the strength to throw it far enough to meet existing requirements to graduate SMH.'

'One of my female soldiers couldn't throw a grenade so she couldn't deploy,' wrote Anthony Anderson.

'This generation is just weak and lazy, and think they deserve everything.'

'When you turn your military into a social experiment, you get these kind of results,' wrote Zac Booterbaugh.

Others on Facebook say that women and men among the younger generation are spending too much time indoors.

'I cannot believe it,' wrote Harry Davis. 'The people going to basic training are not strong enough to pass the grenade portion of qualification to graduate so they just remove the requirement.

that's certainly concerning, i can tell you from personal experience that i've NEVER seen our instructors as nervous and on edge as they were during grenade training... and while 25 meters really isn't much, i'm pretty sure that our drills (only did a couple, kneeling and standing behind cover) didn't even involve targets that "far" away, more like 15-20m.
that being said, i'm 100% certain that the ability to throw an object a certain distance was NOT part of our physical examination, it was just assumed we all could (which fortunately turned out to be true).

unbelievable, so far i was under the impression that the us were one of the few states to not turn their military into a social experiment, but here we go

i was really nervous the first time i held a grenade, but with the instruction and a few tries with a dummy it was fine
thankfully no happy go lucky guys in my unit, seeing other people handling certain things always makes me uncomfortable

people who cant make a 25m throw should do something else

I was scared to death of those things. Claymores too. Avoided them in the field.

Man loses 300lbs by eating properly and light exercise.

"There is hope. I was 41 when I started this, almost 600 pounds. If I can do this, anyone can."

So what you're saying is that the group of children, who believe that everyone needs to give up the liberty to own guns for the greater good of society is not ok with giving up the liberty of privacy in their backpack for the greater good.

I have nothing against activism and using the legal route to try and push for change, but in this case their activism seems to be limited to snide remarks on Twitter and skipping school. I wouldn’t be worried about my guns or liberty if I were you.
