is it out of character though?

trump not playing political games and accepting whatever proposal provides the quickest and easiest help to those hit by harvey sounds very much like the narrative that trump wants to create about himself: the pragmatic political outsider who tries to help the american people instead of seeking to increase his own power as a political player.

Except that's not how Trump has governed thus far at all, lol.

He isn't pragmatic at all though. Clinton was the pragmatist. Trump is better at tapping into passions, why he beat the pragmatist.

Clinton was emulating Obama in pragmatism. I'm not sure if anything is under the mask with Clinton.

Errrrr

President Obama found it pragmatic to campaign in MI/WI/PA/OH etc over and over to win over people and get their votes.

President Trump was also pragmatic in this manner.

Hillary (C)linton inventor of politics was not pragmatic in this regard

what about (C)linton's campaigning was pragmatic? (other than having the popular sitting President who is a minoriy doing all the campaigning work for her)

i mean youre sitting here suggesting that ignoring battleground states is pragmatic for winning a Presidential election

trump is pragmatic, albeit in a twisted way: he doesnt care for policy too much, he only cares about legislative "wins" and about his own image/being liked by his followers. he will not be held back by ideological convictions in his pursuit of these goals..

oh boy the breitbart comment section is a real treat today. half of the base roasting trump for letting them down while the other half scrambles to explain this away as a good thing. quite the contrast from the celebration they had when the DACA announcement first came out.

Pragmatism would be crafting a message deliberately and after polling enough to know your opinion is going to be passable.

Trump ad hoc's everything it seems like. A pragmatist isn't going to be as erratic as Trump is as far as his team. Trump isnt cool, planned, and calculated. He is passionate, he makes off the cuff comments, he doesn't care what people think. He is too drastic and narcissistic to be pragmatic imo.
