IA would be the electoral anomaly, not MN. While Des Moines is the largest city in Iowa, it (and its metro area) doesn't have the overwhelming portion of the state's population the way the Twin Cities in MN do (or Detroit in MI, or Milwaukee in WI, although that's to a lesser degree). Cities like Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Quad Cities, Sioux City, and the IA suburbs of Omaha spread things out a bit more, there.

But if Biden is underperforming EVERYWHERE except MN, that means there's some serious systematic error in the rust belt. With Wisconsin 100% in look at these polls: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/president-general/wisconsin/

I think that's a bigger miss than 2016 AND the pollsters were supposed to be weighing education.

Fauci was trying to make sure health experts had enough PPE. People were stockpiling N95 masks in March, these are necessary to keep our healthcare system afloat. Trump actually DISCOURAGED masks knowing how dangerous the pandemic was. He constantly blames everyone else and doesnt take responsibility for his actions. We have FAR more cases and deaths than most countries and you are trying to say "he did what he could." He didnt do shit.

The US is ranked 9th in deaths per million population and 17th in cases per million population. And the top 4 states in deaths per million population are all blue states that have been some of the harshest on lockdowns and masking.

I get that it's fun to try to blame Trump for everything under the sun, but at least attempt to keep things accurate. <3

Gonna be interesting to see to what degree it was incorrect polling('secret vote' or intentionally deceptive answers) or incorrect modeling (higher rural turnout than anticipated).

Like everyone is going to say Trafalgar is amazing but they had Trump winning almost 30% of the black vote...IN MICHIGAN. Like, they will be close statewide probably but for VERY wrong reasons.

greenbay, appleton, oshkosh, fondulac, sheboygan areas, aka the shit stripe on the underwear that are wisconsin, carried trump to a close race here.

True, but Milwaukee (and its environs) is a significantly higher portion of the WI population that Des Moines is of IA. Although MI and MN are dominated more by Detroit and the Twin Cities, respectively. Hell, the Twin Cities has more people than all of Iowa.

A narrative that will be lost to this madness is that in the US we now have only 7 states where Marijuana is fully illegal (no form of medical/recreational), South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Kansas, Wyoming, Idaho, and Wisconsin.

South Dakota has fallen from the above ranks, as well as a slew of other states getting more green and allowing recreational that previously were medical only.

magic mushrooms were legalized in several areas, and Oregon decriminalized all hard drugs. queue gold rush migration of crack heads i guess.

how is a house previously held up with 50 pylons still standing on 7, thats the question american people must ask themselves in the infancy of a Biden presidency or Trump 2nd term.

100% correct, and generally that shit stripe of WI is far from unified. Green bay areas and Oshkosh areas generally have not been on the same page from election to election. More UAW workers the further south you get, with democratic pockets of lake dwelling rich folks. and suburban white voters in Appleton and elsewhere seem to shit allegiance based on weird factors.

plus the rural areas inbetween are churning out far more votes than before to offset some of the suburban democrat votes, stacking in with UAW voters to give trump a real shot even with MKE and the surrounding area crushing it for Biden. i still think MKE area underperformed on turnout, despite the high numbers. yes its a record, but still too low imo. if that makes sense.

I thought the Trumpist dismissals of polling this cycle were silly, but going forward I don't know how anyone can take it that seriously. Maybe it can measure shifts in favor of one candidate or another, but the percentages are not reliable.

2018 polling was mostly correct though.
